About Karen
I was born in Albany, New York and am a middle child, the only girl, with an older and younger brother. I lived in New York until I was about six, when my family moved to Southern California. I grew up in Santa Ana and went to Mater Dei High School, like both of my brothers. In my childhood, I was a Girl Scout, went to summer camps and was in the school band where I played the flute and competed in marching and concert competitions. I even lettered in high school for being a member of the marching band all four years. For college, I headed east and attended Boston University, studying American History. I am proud to say that I graduated cum laude. After college, I lived in Boston for a year, then on to California, then moved to Houston for two years, and then on to Florida.
I have been working at the hometown newspaper for almost five years now as a page designer and want to continue that work in the future, possibly at a larger paper or a magazine, and would like to venture into the copy editing field. My mom once told me that I could do anything as long as I worked hard at it and that nothing could stop me except me. My hobbies include reading, movies, going to the beach, trying to be creative - I am trying my hand at pastels - and traveling. Like Gabe, I am also a diehard Red Sox fan as well as a Patriots fan. If you have ever lived near me, you know I yell at the tv on game days. A lot. I am very excitable!
I have had a solid set of friends from my childhood and I am happy to still be a part of their lives. I have also been very lucky to make some great friends in all of the places I have lived. Some of my closest friends also live in Texas and Florida. I think of myself as generous and giving, especially to those that I love. I am willing to do anything to help someone I love and I try to have this aspect of myself come across in my daily life.
I have many hopes and dreams for my future with Gabe. I hope to become a mother and create a wonderful family life for us. And I want there to be many years ahead of us to enjoy and cherish.
A note about Karen by Gabe ---------
Where do I even begin? Karen is one of the sweetest, most giving people that I have ever met. I know everyone says those things about their spouse or significant other when they try to describe them, but Karen really is an amazing person. Karen is smart, funny, cute, and sexy, she has shown me the meaning of joy, and how wonderful love can be. Because of her I strive to be the best human being I can be, sometimes I stumble at this goal, but I always know she will be there to help me back to my feet, bandage my knee, and ask me to slow down and walk with her. I will be a lucky man to spend my life with her, and I hope every day that I can make her feel the same way.
