Our First Date

While hanging out with our friends after a movie we began talking about movies which we were interested in seeing based on the preview trailers, the subject came up that The Lake House looked interesting. After everyone said their peace it seemed Karen and I were the only ones who were interested in seeing it, so we made plans to see it opening day.

Karen and I were hanging out fairly regularly by this time, but still only as friends. I was having a hard time being just friends, I secretly hoped she would change her mind... but she was pretty stubborn, so I wasn't holding my breath. Either way, I was looking forward to June 18th 2006. For me it was sort of an "un-official" date, it was the first time we had arranged ahead of time to go out to eat and go see a movie together, and it was very much a date movie. I remember wanting to dress nice, and show her a good time. I remember she looked beautiful, I wondered if there was a reason why she dressed up, maybe it was an "un-official" date for her too.

I paid for dinner, and she insisted on paying for the movie. We had a great time, the movie was really good. And after the movie Karen told me she had been thinking a lot lately about our friendship, and she was finally ready to take us to the next level, assuming I still felt that way.

Which I did.

So it turned out our "un-official" date, was a real date for both of us. We talked for a while, and the night ended with our first kiss. We both agreed June 18th would be the anniversary of our first date. Since then I've spoiled her at every chance I got, and I plan on doing so for the rest of my life.
